This was such a powerful session! I came with a lot of unresolved grief and then for the first time in a public forum I got emotional. What stook out for me was that – grief is universal and it is a gift. I had some very heart touching conversations in the breakout rooms with amazing people. I am transformed in more ways than one. Thank you Karin!
Thank you Piya for openly sharing so powerful insights and realizations! I learned a lot as well from everyone’s sharing and it was touching for me as well!
I missed this one.. can’t wait to look at the recording n discuss it with my NLP buddies
I have been charmed by the concept of saudade (in context of fado Portuguese songs) since Karin’s session and in my mind I found similarity in the songs of the boatmen (Bhatiali) from the riverine plains of lower gangetic delta. The etymology of the word saudade is disputed with most scholars claiming its origin from the Latin word for solitude. However, some claim it has roots in the Arabic word sauda which among other things means melancholy/black/dark. In my map, culture and specially music is a universal expression and I am fascinated by the linkages and common inspirations. Bhatiali (bhata meaning low tide in bangla) songs are composed and sung by the boatman community whose lives depended on the treacherous river and the songs reflect their lives of uncertainty yet the sweet longing for the river, who can give abundance and take away lives at whim. The songs often have a melancholy mood filled with stories of hardship and yet longing for a higher love with an overarching theme of celebration of life and nature. This is what I found inspiring – the common human condition, the cultural expressions and how we are all connected in so many ways.
Thank you Piya for sharing. Very interesting! Yes, there are so many communalities with Saudade.
That Chunking up is a powerful way to recognize the powerful larger impact a loved one makes on the world forever. Such a healing perspective that honors one’s life and legacy!
Beautifully said Priya!
Similar to Saudade, I have seen such a similar expression of joy, liberation at Pondicherry. People are taking dead body into procession where they are expressing their joy through dance , meaningful activities as they believe the soul got the freedom.
thank you Karin. thank you so much! I am not that much expressive but being a part of this community I am getting few sparks which are immensely important for me!
