  • Realisation of awakening thoughts and senses.

As I sit in my house, outside Storm Floris is hammering Scotland,, listening to some Janis Joplin, the Travelling Wilburys and a few other musicians’ from my era of music. I wanted to put up a few words of a personal experience from this morning.

I had to drop my car of at a nearby Body Repair shop for a few minor repairs to done, being just over a mile from my home I decided to walk home.

Now as I have mentioned the weather here today is terrible, so I was getting drenched and battered by the the winds, but for the first time in a while I realised I was happy!

I began realise that despite the wind and rain I was feeling alive, I could feel nature on me and could see the rain drops constantly changing direction with each gust of wind, I could hear small birds in the trees chirping away, vehicles moving and I began to notice smells from the grass and trees as well as the industrial smells…it didn’t matter to me how bad the weather was I was enjoying life and began to smile…at one point I even felt like acting like a toddler and stomping in a puddle, maybe if I had my Wellies on I would have!

For the first time I was noticing things that I hadn’t bothered to notice in many years.

So, if I take anything from taking part in the latest NLP Practitioner course is that I’ve found an awakening within myself that’s been missing for a long time. The Practitioner sessions are getting me to notice conversations, my surroundings, feelings, using my senses.

    Thank you.

This is such a powerful share Paul. Aliveness comes from paying attention to these things that we often miss out on. Thank you for sharing this with us.
PS: I love Janis Joplin 🙂

Loved how you have described the heightened awareness and the joy it brings. It’s raining here in Bangalore, India (the monsoons have taken over) and I realized too that as a child this came naturally to me but as an adult there’s an unecessary hesitation. Also a Joplin/ Wilburys fangirl. There’s something about that music that feels ‘awake’.

Thank you for your comments Piya; while you’re experiencing Monsoon rains, we’re experiencing a mini heatwave in Scotland, with temperatures reaching 29 degrees Celsius, (that’s far too warm for me). It’s always great to hear from musical kindred spirits.

Enjoy a bit of a stomp in the rainwater puddles 🙂
